Awal dongeng ini berada di kurun ke-19 bertempat di Inggris, aristokrat muda berjulukan Jonathan Joestar bersaing dengan Dio Brando, seorang anak laki-laki yang dirawat oleh ayah Jonathan setelah ayah Dio meninggal. Ketidakpuasan dengan status hidupnya, nmembuat Dio mencari kekuatan gaib dari sebuah topeng kerikil peradaban Aztec kuno di Joestar yang akan mengubah nasib Dio dan Jonathan untuk kedepannya. Lima puluh tahun kemudian, pada tahun 1938 New York City, cucu Jonathan Joseph Joestar harus melaksanakan misi yang diberikan kakeknya untuk menghancurkan topeng kerikil yang mengancam umat manusia, Men Pilar.
